The Conero Riviera is one of the most enchanting gems of the Italian Adriatic coast. Surrounded by lush nature and framed by the sea, so blue that it merges with the sky, it is the ideal place to spend your holidays in beauty.

Conero encompasses a myriad of breathtaking beaches, from the most solitary and wild ones to the equipped ones suitable for the whole family. Among all of them, there is one that is a true natural attraction, a magical cove, symbol of the entire Riviera, reachable only by sea: the Two Sisters Beach.

Location

The Two Sisters Beach is located in the municipality of Sirolo, one of the most sought-after towns in the Marche region by the numerous tourists who choose this wonderful region as their preferred holiday destination every year. As we mentioned, this precious stretch of beach can only be reached by sea, which makes it more intimate and decidedly less crowded. Looking at the coastline directly, you can spot it when arriving by boat, between the Sassi Neri Beach and the Cava Davanzali Beach, so named because it used to host the quarry from which the famous white Conero marble was extracted.

It is a free and unspoiled stretch of coastline, studded with pebbles and gravel, perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the meditative tranquility of nature.

How to reach the Two Sisters Beach

The impossibility of reaching it by land makes accessing this destination more complex than expected. In reality, there is a small road that starts from the top of Passo del Lupo and reaches the coast; however, a municipal ordinance has expressly forbidden access to the trail due to the absence of basic safety measures.

Therefore, the safest and permitted ways to reach the destination are all by sea.

  • Daily boat trips: the first option is undoubtedly to take advantage of the boat trips offered by the designated agencies. The trips are daily and mainly depart from Numana and some beach resorts along the coast.
  • Inflatable boat and private vessels: the second possibility is to rent an inflatable boat, starting from Numana, for half a day or a full day. This will allow you to reach the destination without other unknown passengers, enjoy the destination away from the tourist crowds, and choose your preferred schedule. You can also explore the nearby equally stunning beaches. It is good to know that no license is required to operate this type of vessel, which is suitable for carrying up to six people.
  • Canoe and pedal boat: if you want to be environmentally friendly, the last option is perfect for you. You can rent a canoe or a pedal boat at one of the nearby beach resorts. The crossing will take about half an hour, and upon arrival, you will be rewarded for all your efforts.

Panoramic viewpoints

If, on the other hand, your desire is to admire the two marvelous sea stacks from above, which give their name to this famous beach, from the best panoramic viewpoints, we can only recommend taking a walk on Monte Conero to reach Passo del Lupo. When you reach the top, you will be amazed by the spectacle that unfolds before you. The privileged view of the Two Sisters on the left and the blue sea in other directions will stay in your heart for a long time.

If you prefer to admire the panorama from the sea, we suggest opting for a mini-cruise along the coast, a unique and suggestive opportunity to get close to the unspoiled beauty of the Two Sisters, one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy.

Useful tips

The unspoiled nature of this beach requires some minimal organization, as there are no accommodation facilities or beach bars. You need to bring your own drinks and food sufficient for the entire duration of your stay.

If you are looking for a destination to visit with children in the Marche region, the Two Sisters Beach is undoubtedly a challenging choice. The dangers for young children should not be underestimated. First of all, the journey to reach it could be cumbersome, but most importantly, remember to bring enough provisions, drinks, and especially an umbrella to provide shade from the sun. As we mentioned before, this wonderful beach has nothing else to offer, only pristine nature.

A final anecdote: the Two Sisters Beach is wrapped in its own legend. It is said that in its crystalline waters lived an enchanting mermaid who used to lure sailors with her song into the Grotta Degli Schiavi, to imprison them forever. To assist the beautiful creature, it is said that there was a sea demon, transformed by the gods into a cliff broken in two parts, hence the birth of the sea stacks that you can admire today along the Conero Riviera.

In 1962, during a cold and stormy night, a Lebanese merchant ship wrecked off the coast of this natural paradise. Currently, the seabed of the Two Sisters Beach still preserves part of the wreckage, visible at a depth of about ten meters for adventurous divers.
